Lesson 4 · Soft Totals

Soft 19-20 — Almost Always Stand

A,8 (soft 19) and A,9 (soft 20) are strong hands. Stand almost always.

The only exception: soft 19 vs 6 with Ds (double if possible, otherwise stand).

Examples

S19 vs 6

8♠8♠8

✓ Double

Ds — the dealer is very weak and soft 19 has enough margin to double.

✓ Stand

Always stand — soft 20 is a very strong hand.

Common mistake

Getting greedy and doubling soft 19-20 against weak dealers. Those are already winning totals — the chart stands on them everywhere.
