Lesson 1 · Surrender & Rules

Late Surrender — When to Surrender

Late surrender lets you give up half your bet before acting. It is only worth it in a few specific situations.

Surrender hands: H16 vs 9/10/A, H15 vs 10, H17 vs A (in H17). Everything else: play on.

✓ Surrender

Surrender — you lose less by giving up half than by playing to the end.

H14 vs 10

✓ Hit

No surrender — H14 vs 10 is not among the hands to give up.

Common mistake

Surrendering every ugly hand once you learn the move exists. Late surrender is right on a handful of hands — 16 against 9-A, 15 against 10 — and a leak everywhere else.
